Sandwich Molecular Wires and Their electrical and Magnetic Properties

Abstract:

In the past decade, it is found that many sandwich molecular wires (SMWs) possess some fantastic properties such as half metallic, high spin fielter and NDR effects, making them be very promising candidates for molecular electronics and spintronics. In this talk, I will analyze the details of (FeCp) SMWs in terms of structure, stability, half-metallic, NDR properties, in particular, the mechanism behind afometioned properties by figuring out their electron configurations. Finally I will surmize the roles when one study the SMWs.

Dr. Yang Shuo-Wang originally graduated from Zhejing University and obtained his Bachelor and Master degrees in 1985 and 1988 respectively. He obtained his Ph. D degree from National University of Singapore. His research interests are nona-structures (including nano-particals, nano-tubes), surface chemistry and one-dimensional molecular/nano wires. Currently, he is a research scientist working in the Institute of High Performance Computing (Singapore).
